Winter 2011 - 2012

It's about time to take a look at the boat so it can get in the water in time to enjoy a full season. I haven't done anything to the boat this winter, and in the fall a kitchen renovation got in the way, so the tent came up very late. Here in the early spring, I have been very busy at work, so it is only now, April 3, that I can get started.

The delay in setting up the tent has taken revenge, it rained a lot at the end of the year 2011, so there is some varnish damage. It is just minor damage, but it shows how important it is to get the boat sheltered from the rain. The hull looks very nice, there are a few rust bleeders, otherwise, the paint is OK.

I'm going to renovate the aft hatch and the lower fender lists this year. I skipped the aft hatch both during the renovation and last year - there are many corners, so it's a bit of a hassle - but now I can't postpone it anymore. The same is the case with the lower fender lists, especially the one on the starboard side is bad. I will try to see if I can avoid replacing them because only the ends are bad. I would like to have them varnished instead of painted, but that depends on how the wood looks when the paint gets removed.
